Published specifications reviewed October 15, 2026. Confirm the exact machine, tooling and supplied configuration with the manufacturer. This is a CML USA buyer’s guide, not independent comparative testing.

A good industrial cold saw should do more than fit your largest piece of tubing. It should produce the required cut quality, suit your shop’s electrical supply, and keep handling and cleanup practical throughout the working day.

If you are comparing a Pedrazzoli Super Brown with a Scotchman CPO 350 or a Baileigh 350-series cold saw, start with the actual cutting cycle. A manual saw, a saw with powered clamping, and a semi-automatic cutting system do not ask the operator to do the same work.

Compare the Cutting Cycle Before the Brand

Machine Cutting cycle and workholding Published straight-cut round capacity Blade and speed information
Pedrazzoli Super Brown 350/60 MRM [1] Manual cutting head and quick-lock manual vise. 4 in. round section; confirm wall, alloy and angle. 350 mm maximum blade; published variable speed 15–90 rpm.
Scotchman CPO 350 PK [3] Operator-controlled head; air-operated double self-centering vise. Powered clamping does not make this a powered-downfeed saw. 4½ in. OD mild-steel round tube at 90°. 350 mm maximum blade; speed packages vary, including an 11–177 rpm variable-speed option.
Baileigh CS-350M [5] Manual cold saw with self-centering vise. 4.25 in. round tube at 90°. Advertised 14 in. blade; 26/52 rpm.
Pedrazzoli Super Brown 350/60 SA [2] Adjustable pneumatic head downfeed and return, pneumatic vise and pedal-operated semi-automatic cycle. 4 in. round section; confirm wall, alloy and angle. 350 mm maximum blade; published variable speed 15–90 rpm.
Scotchman CPO 350 PKPD [4] Semi-automatic pneumatic power downfeed, pneumatic double self-centering vise and automatic return. 4½ in. OD mild-steel round tube at 90°. 350 mm maximum blade; multiple speed packages, including variable speed.
Baileigh CS-350SA [6] Pneumatic vise; pedal-actuated automatic blade descent, cut and return. Page advertises 4.33 in. round tube; another field lists 4.25 in. tube-notching OD. Confirm the applicable capacity. Advertised 14 in. blade; 26/52 rpm.

Published values are not identical test conditions. Round tube, solid bar, square tube and rectangular sections have different capacity limits.

Choosing a 14-Inch Cold Saw: Blade Size and Capacity

Shopping for a 14-inch cold saw? Compare the machine’s specified blade diameter, cutting capacity and operating cycle—not just its advertised size class.

The Pedrazzoli Super Brown 350/60 MRM manual cold saw and 350/60 SA semi-automatic cold saw specify a maximum blade diameter of 350 mm, approximately 13.78 inches. An exact 14-inch blade measures 355.6 mm. Do not assume a blade advertised as 14 inches fits a machine rated for a maximum of 350 mm.

Blade diameter is not cutting capacity. Confirm capacity for your material, section shape and cut angle, as well as the blade bore, mounting pattern and other compatibility requirements. Ask CML USA to confirm the correct blade and machine configuration before ordering.

Where the Super Brown Deserves a Close Look

Variable Blade Speed for Changing Work

Both Super Brown models publish a 15–90 rpm variable-speed range. That is a useful distinction from the two published speeds on these Baileigh models when a shop needs to adjust cutting conditions across suitable materials and sections. It is not an exclusive advantage over Scotchman: Scotchman also offers a variable-speed package. Compare the exact machines quoted, not the least-equipped version of one against an upgraded version of another.

A Choice Between Manual Control and a Powered Cycle

The MRM suits varied jobs where the operator wants direct control of the saw head. The SA provides powered head movement and pneumatic workholding for repeat cutting. Its published features include an anti-burr workholding group that grips the part during the cut. Ask CML USA to identify the equipment included in the quotation and demonstrate the finish on your own stock.

Material-Positioning Options as Production Grows

The Super Brown SA can be paired with optional feeding equipment, including the advertised PD100 system, to reduce repetitive measuring and positioning. Buyers can also evaluate the Super Brown 350 AP automatic model. These are separate configurations—not capabilities included with every SA. Scotchman also offers positioning and feeding systems, so compare the complete installed workflow.

U.S. Application Support, Blades and Parts

CML USA provides Pedrazzoli sales and support from Davenport, Iowa. The cold-saw category page advertises stocked blades and spare parts, plus blade sharpening. Confirm availability for the particular blade and machine. A practical buying discussion should cover application testing, installation, operator training, service and the specific warranty—not just the saw’s purchase price.

Give Competing Machines Fair Credit

The Scotchman CPO 350 pages publish a larger straight-cut round-tube capacity than the 4-inch Super Brown rating, along with a three-year parts warranty and lifetime customer support. Baileigh publishes clear electrical requirements and online prices for the CS-350M and CS-350SA. Both Baileigh models are listed with 220V three-phase power. Those are real buying considerations.

For Pedrazzoli, a single-phase MRM configuration is documented; the SA catalog identifies 240V and 480V configurations, with the supplied phase to be confirmed. Scotchman also lists single- and three-phase configurations. Do not buy a saw until the written quote matches the electrical service in your shop.

Ask for a Cut Test That Reflects Your Work

Send each supplier the same material grade, section dimensions, wall thickness, cut length, miter angle, tolerance and daily quantity. Compare the complete cycle: measuring, loading, clamping, cutting, unloading and any cleanup. Inspect cut length, squareness and internal and external burrs. Record the blade, feed and speed used.

Cold sawing can give tube and pipe clean, square ends with minimal burr. It does not guarantee a burr-free part. Before mandrel bending, inspect and deburr both edges as needed and remove loose chips. For mitered handrails, check fit-up at the actual joint angle—not just a straight-cut sample.

Which Cold Saw Should You Buy?

  • Consider the Super Brown MRM for varied fabrication and smaller batches, especially when its manual operation and available electrical configuration fit the shop.
  • Consider the Super Brown SA when controlled head feed and pneumatic clamping can reduce repetitive operator work.
  • Compare an automatic system when repeated measuring and stock positioning are the production constraint.
  • Consider a competing model when its verified capacity, configuration or commercial terms better match your application.

The best machine is the one that repeatedly makes acceptable parts at a sensible total cost. Ask for a configured quote covering tooling, supports, optional feeding, freight, setup, training, warranty and lead time.

Send CML USA your cutting application for a Super Brown recommendation.
